NY Venture Summit Scam!
Adam: Hello? Pierce: Hello is Adam Neganewitzky available from the New York Venture Summit? Adam: Yeah speaking. Pierce: Great, uh hi, um my name is Pierce we've been speaking I'm from Argio Biotech. Uh this is in regards to uh the New York Venture Summit 2010 and I guess our applications maybe there's some confusion there? Adam: Yeah hey Pierce how are you? Pierce: I'm doing excellent I figured it would be better to call than to continue with these email chains its getting a little ridiculous. Adam: Yes I appreciate the call. So uh, yeah I would like to definitely clear up the confusion because uh, I'm just trying to figure out…so what's your uh, what's your take on things? Pierce: Um, so we're all set to present, uh, I think that's, what is that, two weeks from now. Sometime in June. And uh, I don't know you passed off my email to uh, gosh what was her name, Revecca, how do you say the last name? Uh… Adam: el Fisla Benjamin. Pierce: Yeah Revecca Benjamin. And uh she seems to not, not be aware of of, what, uh, what you had done for us. Um, yeah so are there uh, what uh, I mean, anything else you need from us at this point, or can we just look forward to seeing you there? Adam: Um, I'm not sure what you're referring to. We uh, you know like I said in my email, registration is required for the free slots. Ummm, so I'm not clear on what you are referring to. Pierce: Hmmm. So, the registra-, ok, so but you had sent me an email on what is this May 3rd, I pulled it up. And it said feature company benefits include and recognition, recognition, of the top innovator, presentation slot, three complimentary passes for company executives, uh media exposure, etc etc etc. And uh Adam: Right, right so thats where I I I can definitely understand where the confusion is now Pierce so. Pierce: huh! Adam: That email that I sent, that was for, for the, the paid slot. So the paid slot does include three passes. So in other words, people who paid for the slot, don't need to register in addition to that. But the free slot, I also sent you the um, the uh benefits of the free slot, that does not include registration. So it would require you know just to register at least one person from the team. Pierce: Oh, so I'm a little confused. A free slot, is a paid slot? Adam: No a free slot is you're getting a free presentation slot but, but the companies do need to register somebody to attend. Pierce: I'm still a little bit confused on that angle. Um, cause I, I, the way that we left it off, and I can reference the very last email I sent you. It was on uh May 7th. Said, Hi Adam, thanks for the email and for the confirmation if the position opens up for a company and you can cover all fees, we'd love to present. And you followed that up with ummm, something along the lines of, oh we have a a a spot opened up for companies that have not received funding to date. And uh, then we went through and spent uh, quite a bit of time, putting together that application that you sent us. And there was never any mention quite made that uh additional fees would be, would be assessed to our account. Um, especially because I I had said if you cover all fees we'd love to present. Um, so that, I mean, this is really just a confusion here, I think, I think on your end. Again we did make arrangements here to come present. We are looking forward to this. Adam: Ummmm, Well, like I said, I'm not sure, what, what the miscommunication is. But, you know again, you know, the presentation fees are taken care of. But, you would need to register if you want to go ahead with this. So, that's the, that's, that's, that's how this works, and that's how all the companies have been doing it. And haven't had any problems with it. So, again I apologize if there was any miscommunication. But that is the case. Pierce: Interesting, this wasn't something that would have been relevant to include when you mentioned uh, that a, that a spot would be opening to us? On what is this May 13th? Before we put in the effort to writing up that application? Adam: No, quite frankly most companies have found it pretty obvious you need to register to attend. Um, in fact most of them volunteered to do so. Pierce: Yeah this must have been totally our fault then. It would have been nothing to do on your end not mentioning this. Uh, and I do apologize for that. Um, So what I'd like to go ahead and do at this point is still come in and present at this. There's no need for us to stay for uh, for the networking aspect of it. But being as we were granted that slot, would love, we could just scoot in, scoot out, and uh, kinda clear this up. Cause I don't think that'll be a problem. For us, on our end. Adam: OK. Pierce: Do we need uh, so you're gonna, I guess you're gonna have Revecca, uhhhh, I can't remember her last name. Send us over the information on on how long we can present, and and the size of our posterboard? And we can kinda let that sit there, and we can come pick it up after your venture summit ends. Are you ok with that? Cause I think that that covers what uh, what, what this email chain kinda says. Adam: Ummmm, sure. You know as soon as you register we'll uh, take care of everything. Pierce: Whoooooaaaaa! But, we, we would not need to register at that point because we wouldn't be staying for the whole conference. Cause, we, we just want to take you up on… Adam: Pierce, Pierce, Pierce, I'm explaining to you that's the story, if you wanna register we're a go, if not, not, thank you very much, have a nice day. Bye Pierce: Very interesting. Great, perfect. That's a youtube video. What a scam!
